Let's give the Gaffer his due

There has been a lot of slagging our Manager on this forum, lets for a change get behind him, all in all I think he has done a great job turning things around and what appears to be getting us out of trouble.
    Well done Mark.

I'll go along with that. At any event I've come across him he's always appeared confident but open. Didn't have a problem with him returning to Fir Park and although he took over the reins at a difficult time he's done well and is now getting the best out of the players he inherited.

I'm certainly not McGhee's biggest fan but your right, he has done a good job in getting us up the table and to what looks like safety. The blip we had in January and February apart our form has been as good as anyone's in the league since he came in. The fact that we are now looking to finish in the top six rather than looking at a relegation play off says it all.

Could not agree more. Considered squad he inherited and individual inconsistencies of players, think he’s achieved much. C’mon Statler and Waldorf .. you’re his worst critics on here and rarely/never post anything +ve of the man. Please don’t reply repeating from his past … it’s today and season 2015/16 majority are more interested. This season I’ve saw improvement, young players being brought thru and Ainsworth finally benched. Onwards and upwards but not Europe

I dont' know if I'm one that the Stadler / Waldorf comment is aimed at as I really don't pay much attention to things. However if I am and the accusation is I am one of McGhees biggest critics that just plainly bollox and would love some evidence of that supposed "fact".

Anyway back to the less childish stuff, one of McGhees characteristics and probably the thing that irritates folk when things aint going well is his self belief (its an attribute or a failing depending on your taste). He rarely if ever sees things that go wrong as his fault but the one thing it seems to do is keep him calm and objective. He never seems to be stressed out by whats going on around him and that's no bad thing. However as much as he rarely sees things that go wrong as his fault he does heap the praise on the players when it goes right.

I'll never appreciate the way he publically hung Ainsworth out to dry. However as much as he, rightly at times, gets pelters when it goes wrong its churlish not to a

I don't like McGhee and probably never will. Credit to him and the team for turning things around of late and if we avoid relegation, given its been another poor season, then that's a plus point.

I won't, however, be jumping on any McGhee bandwagon as I find him a thoroughly unlikeable individual and his attitude to the club is dreadful, he clearly sees himself as being bigger than the job of Motherwell FC manager and has no qualms about showing it.

If we avoid relegation surely even you must be confident of that now

Nothing is certain in football so until we are mathematically certain to avoid relegation and or the playoffs then I won't be counting any chickens.

Isn't this exactly what you were calling for in another thread? Not settling for being mediocre and having confident people drive the club forward?

Anyway, as it happens, I'm not a huge fan of McGhee's personality either - at least how he often comes across in the media, he may be completely different in private - but quite frankly I couldn't give a toss so long as he gets the job done.

When he took over we had 10 points from 10 games, were five from bottom and four from the play-off.

We have obviously had some sticky performances on the way and there's plenty still to work on but as a rough summation:
    - we're all but safe
    - we may even, remarkably, make the top

Pheck, reading your list how can anyone not be impressed seasons improvement ?
Reminds me Monty Python sketch .. 'What have Roman’s done for us ?’ from Life of Brian.
I care not a jot if he’s thought arrogant or likeable … I have no influence on his personality.
Show me a current manager who is any different !! (retorical question)
