re: Felt sorry for the Referee

I remember Alan Knight being sent off for the only time in his career for a hand ball offence in the Fp mud against Leicester in the FA Cup. A youngish and relatively inexperienced Dermot Gallagher saw that as a red, Mr Sarginson didn't yesterday for a very similar offence. Hartley cynically took Roberts out when going clear. He was yellow carded and was probably saved a red card by the distance Roberts was from the goal. I'll bet if it had been at the other end our player would have received a red. The incident which summed up the referees afternoon for me was when he had both trainers on for head injuries. It was a clear foul on Danny Hollands, but after much chaos he let Argyle kick the ball into touch for us to restart with a throw in in front of the south stand. Clueless he was for me and sadly there have been plenty like him this season here.

I agree LDB......I was right inline with the Roberts incident on the NSL and so was the linesman.....how on earth he didn't see or feel that the contact was done with intent is beyond me. Time in my opinion for linesmen to grow a pair and take some responsibility to assist the man in the middle. By the way I'm still in shock.........

Yes the linesmen fail to flag up lots of times. They don't bother to let the ref know about such things. I think the ref has told them not to bother as he is in charge (well he thinks he is, but some of the players boss the game and the ref.)

Neil Allen in the News gave him 7 out of 10 with the comment "rather lenient at times". Which game did you watch Neil ?
