Well, we did win! Couldn't agree more Timmy. as I would love to have heard more about a rare victory.
Almost 10pm on the day the team registers it's first victory for I don't know how long, and the message board is a quiet as the grave. I am guessing had we lost today the usual contributors would have been lining up heap more criticism on the manager, team, board, ground staff etc.
Truth of the matter is, we were second best in the first half but were much the better side in the second. A lot of promise shown by Ainley Haber had a very good second half as did Bingham, Davis, Fox and good performances throughout from Turton, Guthrie, Saunders and Jones who never stopped all match.
I have no doubt that we have seen the last of Inman and Haber and probably Fox in a Crewe shirt, But I would certainly not object if we kept Haber. He is slow, yes, has difficulty turning in possession, but he is competitive in the air and I reckon he would get us goals in League 2. And I can; imagine find someone with his experience to come and play for us next season.
It is a shame it has been so quiet h

the flooded pitch at 14.30 was a fitting end to the debacle of this season. didn't go to the forum but found some of the answers strange. - notably 'were playing the best football of the last three seasons' do they watch the same games ? anyway, back to today a win is a win. and the match today was more enjoyable than many ive endured this season. our first goal was so reminiscent of a crewe goal it was unbelievable. we (Doncaster) are 1-0 up in must win game, the ball is loose in the six yd box, kick the ball out of the ground - anywhere, not chest it back to the keeper when you are lying on the floor. the win today doesn't paper over the cracks, two very poor teams. we would (should) have been down three years ago except for the goals of aneke, aneke and ajose.. there are signs for the future with some of the performances today, unfortunately for me, I don't know whether the budget or players not playing for the manager is the problem. or theres always the academy. should we chan
Honestly the board is quiet because we've been down for a month and to put it simply after some of the crap we're fed by those in charge and the most biased media you could wish to hear, most of us have simply stopped giving a toss.
Hard to be celebrating a win when we've already been relegated in every fan under the age of 40's worst season in their lifetime. At least we won, I'm pleased we did, but, like many others furious with this woeful campaign, I'm not doing cartwheels about it and understandably so.
Let's see if the club can finally start a season well next season before we bleat about "momentum", "improvement" and "turning points". That's when fans will care about wins.
I am pleased that we won, but hardly feel elated. It has been a most difficult season on and off the pitch filled with anger and disappointment, and which seems to have been never-ending. Fortunately, only one game to go and we can see the pre-season unfold. No great expectations for next season. Happy just to see the club enjoy a stabilizing season in mid-table, and hopefully the desperately needed change(s) within the club will occur.
Yes, by end of game it was easy to see why Donny going down too - couldn't happen to a nicer man than Fergie Junior. I think Ainley's equalizer on stroke of HT was crucial - I know how we'd have reacted if it had happened to us, and it really set them back when they must have seen a route to safety. Then Haber showed what he can do - and for all his many limitations would do in league 2, with probably his longest shot in for a goal all season (6 yards?), before Brad signed off with another glimpse of what he can do and sometimes has for us over most of 4 seasons. Thanks for some good times Brad.
Credit where it's due - we deserved to beat an ordinary Doncaster but they had a lot more to compete for than we did so it was not a pointless end of season game - particularly given the Blackpool result
Clearly our best centre backs were playing yesterday which meant we defended better
Ainley showed great promise again and everyone contributed

Nothing less than the play-offs will do for me next season!
That doesn't mean I expect it, no, I didn't say that but I will never "enjoy" a season of mid-table mediocrity.
Not after a relegation season anyway.
Pleased for my Dad's brother's wife's brother's daughter's son for breaking his duck yesterday!
Whilst my heart will always vote for the play offs, my head says that SD has a lot of work to do to turn around a squad somewhat demoralised and likely to be based on youngsters. League Two is not going to be easy at all, and I remain to be convinced that, as he has promised at the end of each of the last three seasons, he will be making sure that the lessons learned are implemented. I really hope he is successful next season, but I just have a lot of doubts - a season of consolidation in 2016-17 and hopefully a promotion challenge in 2017-18. Very happy to be proved wrong!
One resolution for next season is that I will get out and watch Crewe more often. Have allowed the last couple of season's mediocrity to put me off and I've become an armchair supporter - I live and work in London so there should be a decent number of away games to get to.
