Just as I thought, we are trying to retain McFadden. Why? Just why? He is a 33 year old with his best days well behind him and constantly plagued by injuries. But he has an army of misty eyed fanboys at the club so we sign him up just because he is who he is. Until the club learn to stop this backward looking jobs for the old boys signing policy then we will go backwards.

No real shocks. Like Law Steelman I'm puzzled as to why we've offered Faddy a new deal. Yes, he'll always be special to us but its time to move on. Not sure I'd offer new deals to Lasley, McManus and Hammell. Interesting that Mark McGhee is looking to bring in fresh faces where he feels we are light - central midfield and full back? Hopefully other players will make their mind up in the next week or so.

Hope we can get the full back areas, especially the right back area which has been a problem for us for years sorted out. I would take hammell back for another year. He is solid enough but has become injury prone the last couple of years though. If we can retain McDonald we should be ok up front but midfield could be a problem. I to don't see the sense in retaining Faddy, surely we could spend that wage a little more wisely.
