Yes as you say, it didn't happen when it mattered. The difference between success and failure yet again.
I don't agree with the jibes and negativity at Darren Wassall. Restored pride tonight. Players gave everything. It just didn't happen when it mattered last Saturday...but that's football. We could so easily have won by 3 or more tonight. Derby can hold their heads up high.![]()
Some of the posts on this board are just spiteful.

I think some people must just enjoy being negative, pessimistic, moaning grumps all the time. Valiant effort by the boys, did for the 2nd time this season what only ****nal have been able to do and that's beat hull in their own backyard without conceding. Get behind the team and give wassall a go next year I say. I'm honestly not sure what some people expect, we are Derby, we are proud and we have our faults but we are always Derby.
Agree, if you can't play with freedom when theres nowt to lose when can you? Shame we did not turn up on Saturday when the tie was lost, that performance merely papers over the cracks and whilst it restores some pride it does merely beg the question why the **** did the team not turn up in the first leg and how many times do we have to witness this - consistency is the key winning ugly when necessary, this season has seen too many poor performances, too many missed opportunities - lets hope we see signs of a plan to put this right next season.Originally Posted by vanderlaans_header
We need a manager that can make us play like that every game not just when we've been mullered in the press for such a poor display like Saturday. Who was manager on Saturday? Wassall was and I'll give him credit for tonight but this was a 2-legged tie. Had we got any kind of result on at home we would be at Wembley. We need better management.
I'm not the most contentious poster on here but our threat weakened when Weimann went off, he didn't give their RB a minutes peace tonight.
Hopefully an exceptional manager is already lined up.....maybe Mel will surprise us?
It's not a question of spite or negativity against Wassall , but his inconsistent decisions and lack of experience have cost us. Measure Wassall against the job he has to do instead of sentiment. I would be very unhappy if he is manager next season.
It's not sentiment...clearly saturday wasn't good enough...but also clearly Wass has taken it on the chin and the entire team came out tonight and let's face it...but for a couple of cms on three or four occasions we could have won 5-0 tonight. No manager can guarantee success....a tweak of the squad and a bit more luck with injuries next season and i'm confident we can go again.Originally Posted by blackandwhite56

If we'd played with more nouse on Saturday we'd have been playing extra time,if ifs and buts were..... admire your optimism, but Wassall isn't the man to take us forward and indeed will not be the man who takes us forward thank goodness, looki
