    Apparently we are on the verge of signing Dean Brill...Thoughts on this

    Samson and Brill are decent enough 'keepers and I'm sure they'll do a job for us but I enjoyed seeing the young talent in recent years. Ruddie, Randolph and Ripley were first class.

    Yeah we were kind of spoiled over the years with some decent goalkeepers

    I guess it depends on how brave you're feeling or how confident you are in your scouting...goalie is such a game-defining single position, if we can't get a youngster who we're sure is genuine blue chip, it's safer going with Samson/Brill who, over a season, won't gain us many points but probably won't lose us any either.

    Ripley took several months to get up to speed and George Long before him, despite his England U21 cap, was scarcely better than Twardzik. There are Ruddy's and Randolph's out there but a lot more dross as well.
