    O/T Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Scan

I received a letter regarding a Addominal Aortic Aneurysm Scan, at the end of June 2016, the scan is offered to men reaching 65 years of age, which I did in June, also anyone over the age of 65 years who as never had a scan, are asked to contact their GP, who will get them a appointment.
The scan takes about 10 minutes at most,a bit of jelly on thi belly, I went to Mexborough Montague Hospital for mine, the scans are being carried out at different places, one being New York Stadium, clubs & halls etc.
The results are told to you straight away, then a letter to yourself & G.P. to confirm the results, my results showed my Aorta is of normal size. Which means no more action or attending AAA screening appointments.

I have an aortic aneurism v close to my heart,it was discovered after chest pains and an angiogram at Northern General,I have to go to the Mont at Mex to have an echogram to see if the size of it has changed, luckily last time there was no change but if it gets to a certain size then its a major op.If the thing goes while i am at home then theres not much chance for me,but if I'm at a hospital or near one i stand a chance. But having said that I probably would be near or in a hospital because I recently got diagnosed with an incurable cancer so I now have a season ticket for Doncaster Royal Infirmary for chemo,if this treatment gets me into remission I then go to the Hallamshire for Stem cell treatment to prolong the remission.

Sorry to hear about the illness Shytalk, but with you sharing your troubles with the forum, this might just give some a kick up the back side to have a scan.
All the best in all of your treatment.
