He had tonsillitis Weds before Saturday's match but he still played him such is Stubbs desperation now to win....
Anyone could see Izzy wasn't up to the match and some on here posted how bad he was not knowing his illness....
The second half was awful for him and he should have been replaced by Blackstock but no.... Stubbs takes off Newell who was a threat and then introduces Blackstock....
Priceless!
I am led to believe that the deal with Chelsea is constructed in such a way that Izzy has to play every game he is eligible for. If he does, we get his services for practically nothing, if he doesn't, we have to pay his wages. I can only imagine there is a similar agreement with Middlesboro over Fry because I think he has struggled a lot but has kept his place in the team.
According to the NHS guidance website:-
"The symptoms of tonsillitis usually get better after three to four days"
Unless you're a footballer.
I would expect so but who has the final decision? I have had tonsilitis as I suspect many have. I found it irritating and unpleasant but it didn't stop me from going to work. Izzy has been easily our best player and I see no reason why we wouldn't have wanted him to play even if he was only 80%.
