Preston North End Post Match Thoughts

It's not getting any easier is it? Seems like the fight has improved but the quality is just not there and January is still 56 long days away. Post your thoughts on here.

Don't think so; 1st 45 minutes no fight, no passion, no desire. 2nd half marginally more but woefully lacking in quality in every department, special mention for Darnell Fisher who played like he could not care lees, his body language the entire match was atrocious, think he had words with one of our players early on an and well and truly took his ball home, disgrace

Difficult to be optimistic. We're making every other team look like Brazil, while we can't seem to even control or pass the ball at all. The only positive for me today was that Odemwingie looks like he can still play. Certainly looked head and shoulders above anyone on our side today.

Just the sort of approach that is needed when an in-form side rolls into town...

Will KJ end up needing a whole tree harvester and forwarder to get shot of the piles of dead wood in January...

Let me start with the obvious….Preston fully deserved their win no arguments…

Worked as a unit..tackled harder...worked like they HAD to win….

Now us….team selection…Jackett has been here for three games and he simply has to find out who's capable of what so his formations will be different until he sees what looks like his best starting 11 and this will take time as he evaluates everyone...

He didn't take long (in fact the first half) to see both Ball and Blackstock were woeful and were rightly subbed at half time….

Halford came on still looked a lazy player when he half hearted attempted to track back after a foray up front…see their third goal for an example…couldn't be arsed to get back and stop their player progressing…

Blackstock….what can you say about this player other than I feel he's here on a freebie of a contract
If that's all he's got to offer….woeful in the air..didn't press enough up front and a touch like bambi….he has a hell of a lot to prove if he wants first team football….

Odiwengie came on and was a breath of fresh air….total opposite of Blackstock as he pressed and harried their players…looked lively all the half…

Brown came on but too late to make an effect and it's this player that could be key feeding the front two…..

Ball and Vaulkes in midfield did not work and Preston just strolled through them both time and again….

Yes Jackett has a lot to ponder but let's let him get on with it and let's see what happens in the January window…..

Fisher was shocking today I can only presume he was injured orI hope that was his excuse. Ball and Vaulks are reserve team players at best. Not a fan of Halford but midfield was better when he came on. Newell was poor out wide but better when moved inside. The new lad looked good and needs to start in front of 50p head who spent most of his time giving fouls away or being on the floor.

A word about the ref: crap again but even a good un wouldnt have stopped us losing.

Prings bit us on the bum again today with a good performance. Oh if only we still had the squad that he was in when we beat Preston in that play off game.

I really can't understand the stick that Halford gets, he actually makes less mistakes than most of our players. It's very much like what happened with Arnason and others over the years. First half showed how much we miss a player like him in the side.

Why do people over react to mistakes from players like Halford and Arnason that actually don't make that many, but miss mistakes from others or don't react to them as much?

Most of our young players had a mere today.

The team - though on reading it again I can see why you asked. Was always going to be a be ask against a strong PNE side today
