McGhee makes his view clear - a disgrace!

At today's media conference McGhee stated that any plan that affected our ability to develop and play young players would be a disgrace.

That followed a question about the SFA's 'Project Brave' scheme was was floated at the weekend.

It's good to hear MM make it plain how he feels about the possibility that Project Brave could see our club miss out on inclusion in a top tier of Scottish young player development. While it's clear that Scottish football needs a major revamp of its structure to turn around our continuing decline, it is not the answer to limit the potential of youngsters by restricting the system and favouring only eight clubs. It is the way youngsters are coached that has to change, and not by creating an elite of, mainly, the "usual suspects" - The Old Firm, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs. Clubs like Motherwell, Accies, Falkirk through to 'smaller' clubs like Queens Park have excellent records of bringing through young players and putting ANY club on a lower tier will reduce their chances of attracting good youngsters who would be drawn towards the elite tier clubs.
It's a bad idea and let's hope it does not happen.

Well done MM. Don't hear other presumably excluded teams having an opinion.
What a ridiculous proposal. Teams like the old firm and Aberdeen to develop our most promising youngsters. Given Tierney, what is the recent record of these clubs.

It shouldn't matter who says something you have to look at what they're saying. In this case he's right. This is an ill thought out and very dangerous proposal that should be kicked firmly into touch. Changes need to be made but this one would bring more problems than solutions.
