    midfield problems AGAIN

It was made apparent yesterday the midfield looked poor so what's the answer?
I think nyambe needs a bit of a run at right back with Marshall in front of him
feeney will produce one good game in 10 and that simply isn't good enough
the left side Conway is very dependable however when he has a average game like yesterday we need an option to mix it up
    centrally is the biggest issue
    Evans is patchy
Lowe is another one good game in 10
Akpan is no world beater and makes errors
Byrne is nowhere to be seen
    so what is the answer?
Guthrie should be back in the team but as for his partner?
Maybe mulgrew alongside him and bring greer back alongside lenihan
one thing is for sure the midfield is not right and needs addressing if we are to progress.

From what I saw yesterday, but mainly what I glean from attendees reports, I think GG DL ctr backs is right. CM positioned in front with Guthrie or this Byrne fella who I have no idea over, only hype (which I am always suspicious over).
Having a re think on JL, maybe I was wrong and he just can't cut it, he was pretty much at sea yest albeit against a fair old onslaught.
Evans yesterday seemed to have taken a step back to how I saw the guy 18 months ago ie I'm not all that convinced of him.
BM is bit of a 'I don't know'. Going off reports he's playing well, but throughout my watching of him from the start here, he has generally been a one good game in 3 or 4 for me. So if he wants out and we can attract a buyer I would say cash in now.
As is said earlier, it's really pleasing and always has been 'my thing' to see guys like Darragh come through, grab their chance and then put in all the work to develop and cement their place. Well done to him.
I hear that my old mate Rhodesy is maybe being offered the chance to re join Hudds on loan. Well, if he was watching that yesterday he will be licking his lips as he will score his usual hatful of chances in this latest squad. Just doing what he does best, but in that side he doesn't need to concern over his other lack of attributes.

Perhaps we don't always take enough account of the opposition. It seems weird to me that performances can vary so much, but maybe it's simply the case that players just below the very top level find that some styles and formations in opposing teams just stop them from producing their best.
The other thing is, it's possible many of our players are galvanised by playing a team like Newcastle, but lack a bit of intensity when matched against a team like Huddersfield, who - on past reputation, rather than current ability - they think should be easy to beat.
I'm struggling here (!) but I am genuinely puzzled by our extreme ups-and-downs.
Of course, it's also quite likely that there is so little between most of the Championship teams that we shouldn't EXPECT to be able to predict results or performances! In other words, it might just be a matter of who is having a good day.

You have touched on a good point aucks
what separates you in this league is the ability to produce successive results
we are so up and down us as a team will be no better than mid table
It's just a shame we had such a woeful start to the season otherwise we would be sat in the middle instead of looking over our shoulder.

This is for me what makes the Champs the more enjoyable league.
Yes there's been more 'upsets' of late in the top flight, but as predicted by Champs (and suspected by myself) Leic are finding it very tough on following it up. Let's just see if they are pilloried as much as we were for 'falling short' on the follow up.
Back to our current league, it's been said that Hudds performance was one of if not the best display of any visitors this year. Well I don't know about that as I don't attend often enough, but they certainly were a heavy challenge for us, far more than what I expected . Esp after the Newcastle away accolades.
But that's the thing, it seems to me in this league by and large any team can beat any other on any given 'up for it' day. As 'reported' we didn't actually have a bad day at the office, it was simply that they produced a overall better performance than us. Only difference being they didn't score the goals they merited.
0 - 4 would not have been 'out of order',, before we got ours they could and should have been 3 up.
But that's the game for you, at the final whistle all that counts is the goals for / against.
