From an article published by the BBC maybe a year a so ago, the difference in wages is huge.
A player in the premier league will earn up to £300,000 and, soon, probably even more.
However, that number decreases rapidly down in the championship where a better player will earn about £30,000 a week (nonetheless a huge sum).
In League 1, a top player will earn up to £10,000 whereas in League 2 this is halved to £5,000 a week. Bear in mind this is talking about the best players in that divison so an average League 2 player would be expected to make between £1,000-2,000 a week.
Moving down into the semi-pro divisions most players will have another job due to the fact they are not paid very well and even lower down the in tier 7/8 (where the amateur teams play), the players will be expected to pay £5 subs per game and will not earn anything.
