    R.I.P. John Hampshire.

I too remember him playing at Bramall Lane early 70`s just before they stopped playing cricket there.

Lost his long battle against Cancer by all accounts.

RIP John (or Jack as some called him). I too was fortunate enough to see him play at Bramall Lane and was also there on the last day almost 44 years ago, August 7th 1973.

Saw him play at Bramhall Lane and elsewhere too. Very good attacking batsman and long-serving player for Yorkshire. Seem to remember that he scored a century on his England debut. He was later a test match umpire too. Many great achievements by him in the game of cricket - RIP

I saw him playing for Rotherham Town at Clifton Lane. I remember one six sailed out of the ground and landed on the roof of a passing car. Played street cricket with him on their street near the top of Herringthorpe Valley Road. And I bowled him out; didn't get picked for Yorkshire though. R.I.P.
