    Needs time to build his own squad - more time than, dare I say it, previous incumbents have had. Summer recruitment is absolutely key - including a defensive coach as soon as possible - and please, not Mr Barker, but someone with a decent track record

    The point isn't so much about Paul Warne but about the legitimacy of his appointment set against the background of the Chairman's well-documented pronouncements. Where has the ambition gone? What happened to this being a results-based business? Where is the experienced Championship (now League 1) manager? Nothing we're told ever materialises. The club is sliding rapidly downhill with nobody seeming capable of applying the brakes let alone reversing the decline.
