He's the closest to a leader we have on the staff so he was always my hope for captain, hopefully others round him will share some of the burden this year. Looking forward to his manic after-match interview on friday eve already

I'd have thought Huddlestone or Davies would have been just as good if not better choices, but in all honesty how much does it matter who is captain in the modern professional game?

Its a team game and the team collectively need to perform, with the stronger characters all being vocal in the relevant area of the pitch, the goalie needs to marshall his defence, the centre backs need to support midfield and the strongest forward needs to lead by example rather than falling over all the time!
