Thread: O/t who watches the watchmen?

    O/t who watches the watchmen?

I listened to radio 5 last night in which the presenters were talking about the fall out from the Mark Sampson affair. it was all agreed that cronyism at the FA needed to be rooted out and new people who were aware of equality and diversity brought in. The presenters then made suggestions that "intelligent" footballers like Ian Wright and Rio Ferdinand ( I will let you be the judge of whether or not you think they are intelligent) needed to be asked to join the FA. Wrighty was actually on the show and, after at first saying he wasn't interested, was open to the offer.

So lets re-cap here...radio 5 pundits want and end to cronyism and then due to the fact that they had control of the microphones...they then touted for their mates to get the job....the cronyism has started already!!!! Jobs for the boys.

This also raises the interesting question about "who watches the watchmen?". Lets suppose Rio and Wright get the job and go in all guns blazing to bring equality into football....would Rio and Wright realise when that point has been reached? Or would they pursue this agenda until it became oppressive?

There are other examples. There was an advert for Stonewall the other day with a slogan along the lines that there is still work to be done and equality has not been achieved yet. Would the members of Stonewall realise when equality has been reached? It seems to me that it is not equality but immunity from real life that these people now want.

It is real life that not everybody will agree with your opinions or what you stand for. Abuse and violent attacks are inexcusable but it seems that many minority groups also want everyone in the country to share their way of looking at things.

It's time now to put the rainbow flags away....hand in the race card and move on.
