Agree about the English comment, imagine if it was our FA who had said the national manager couldn't be Welsh. They'd be crying racist and all sorts.
Regarding the LGBT thing, sadly there still are a lot of people who do care what others do with their own genitals and who they choose to have relationships with, and until this changes I don't see any problem with highlighting it. Football is one of the last bastions of gay denial and barriers need to be broken down so that people can be who they want to be without fear of being labelled with a derogatory term or targeted by others with an agenda.
