Barnsley make bid to sign Everton midfielder Joe Williams on permanent deal - Liverpool Echo
Barnsley have made a bid to sign Everton midfielder Joe Williams on a permanent deal.
The Championship side have lodged an offer worth in the region of £1mllion for the 21-year-old.
Williams joined the Tykes on a season-long loan in July and has impressed at Oakwell.
Now Barnsley want to turn his loan into a long-term deal and have made their move early in the January transfer window.
Huyton-born Williams has stood out since making the move and has made 28 appearances.
Williams’ only goal for Barnsley - a dipping 30-yard volley against Burton Albion - won him the Championship Goal of the Month award for October.
Barnsley, now backed by a wealthy consortium who took control of the squad last month, want to sign Williams on a long-term deal and have tested Everton’s resolve over the Academy product.

Be a good signing this.
I’d have thought he’d cost more than that
Midfielder should be the last position we need to spend some brass strikers strikers for fks sake
I hope he's given some indication he wants to stay and this bid isn't just us p155ing in the wind so to speak.
I’d go to 1.5. Won’t be on massive wages at his age either I shouldn’t think.
I understand you guys have seen more of him than myself but I think he's pretty average to be honest .
Mind you I didn't rate Glavin and Redders at first so what do I know ?
Williams is a top class player in the making. Signing him on a permanent deal would be a brilliant piece of business. I really hope this comes off. We have had far too many players on loan who have gone on to sign and play for other championship sides because we couldn't afford them. Lets hope the tide has changed.
I would still like us to sign McBurnie on a permanent deal but he is getting a game with Swansea at the moment.

I'd take Morsy over him myself but not sure if Wigan would part with him .
