our matches at Sunderland & Millwall

Apparently thats only our third ever win away there, once at the old Roker park and twice now at their new Roker stadium (as I call it lol). And after losing to us 2-3 at the end of season 1986-87, they dropped into the relegation play offs and wend down to the Third Division. Could history repeat itself as they are on the brink of Lg One again.

And onto Millwall, I think we are a club who they are getting fed up with losing to at the moment and this Fa cup tie might mean a bit more to them than us. No offense to the Fa cup but our following game against the leaders Wolves is a much more important game for me.

I hate to say this but I agree , I don't want to be falling behind in league games while the others have points on the board .

I always want a good cup run , the last time I wasn't bothered was in 96/97 and as then we have far bigger fish to fry this season .

Absolutely ***** we stay up .

Its a shame that we tend to say this every season now though when the Fa cup comes around, that the league matters more and we desperately need 3 points rather than a place in the next round etc. But put it this way, our home game against Millwall will be more important than our cup visit there.
The run under Flicker started with some cup wins remember, and sometimes a cup run does help the league. Like under Machin in 1989-90 as well.

Got to agree theer Acido , like most oneer I love a good cup run too, i won't be too dissapointed if we lose Setdi , still want us to win tho !! League points more important just now tho , begining to sound like a top premier club ere !!! Blood sum yungens this Setdi , they could be the future stars instead of loanees ? Wats to lose ? Cardiff or Bristol away !! Or unlikely Arsenal (would like that ) away or either Manchester clubs would do home or away ,

Sometimes a cup run breeds confidence as you say. The JPT run also helped turn our season round in 2016. Also It could be argued that our run to the quarter finals in 97/98 contributed to us being relegated from the premiership. It depends which way you look at it. Me, well I'd like us to progress in the cup so these kids or possible new signings can grow stronger as a unit.

Good to hear some interesting healthy debate here lads, lets keep it up eh ?.
I think we can always make arguments either way Pass, about when a cup run either helped or hindered our league season. I really wasnt too bothered about those Jpt's until the match at Wigan when we went through on pens, and all of a sudden it became one tie away from the Final at Wembley!!.
Roma, wasnt Thiam's last goal for us away at Millwall this season and albeit it was a pen. But who knows eh he might pop up with another 1 or 2 there lol. I agree with the idea of putting some even younger kids in there and lets see if we can gain anything from the match. Any sort of positive result there will be a bonus, but no more than that I reckon.

I think he'll make a good few changes for cup game which doesn't bother me as I lost interest in FA CUP a long time ago but obviously I'd like a win to keep a winning momento in dressing room

Thats an interesting point Ali, as none of us have really touched on the idea of confidence as well carrying on into the next game. And what better way to play the leaders, than after an away win in the Fa cup ?.
Hhmmm Im coming round to it a bit more now, lets scratch those pesky NOLU Lions again in their den.

Just adding to what we posted on here this week..

Should we be bothered about that debacle today ?. Im not really because the league IS the priority and today's result wasn't going to change that.
But we've lost Williams now for at least 3 games, so all these rumours about certain players/targets coming here within the next week or so, have just taken on even more importance.

If no new faces before next Saturday ? Hammil to cover for Williams , Mallan out on the left , Isgrove on the right , alternative to Hammil depending on going to attack or defend I think he could do either ? Pearson if fit !! Wolves will probably be our biggest test so far , let's not fear them , we do pretty well down here against them ,
