O/T Grand National, any one taken an early price.

Any interest in Saturday's National. A few old regular favourites in the field and several new comers with promise to Aintree's National.

I've taken an early good price on two, Tiger Roll got 17.5 Betfair and Baie Des Iles on which I got 32.0

Any one else got any ideas or preferences. It's always a difficult race to analyse with much good and bad luck to make the difference but you can do worse than look at horses who have stayed in the recent past but not necessarily won, by that I mean been in contention without fading before the end. Also ones who can handle heavy gruelling ground.

Anyway what ever your choice whether you are dabbling or just watching good luck with your selection/s.

Most important thing what ever the result is that they all finish safe and sound, both horses and jocks.

the runners won't be declared yet are they?

I hate taking an early shot only to end up with a non runner. I usually wait until Thursday.

there were originally 105 applicants. that is now down to 61, it should be reduced to 40 by Thursday.

currently some of the jockeys haven't been paired up with their horses.

    too early to call it.

I was given a tip for Mon Mome a month before the 2009 National. Didn't put it on for the reasons in your post but could have got 250 to one.

I did it on the day and got 128.0 Betfair, it won at 100-1. I came away with just over £3,000 with the place money but if I'd gone early it would have been over £7,500.

    Still grateful for small mercies.

I remember as a nipper putting 10 bob together with my two brothers on the 1963 winner, Ayala owned by "Teasy Weasy" Raymond. It came in at 66/1 although for the longest time I always remembered it at 33/1, don't know why. Anyway, won f*ck all since then.
