He hasn't signed a new deal. We just exercised our 12-month extension to his contract which is now up at the end of the coming season.

No. I wanted us to sign him on a longer contract that the 12 month extension. The club also wanted to but as Dantpen says, he was happy to extend the contract and not pen a new one.

Joe Newell was happy for the club to take up the option of a 12month contract.
He's enjoying his time with us and if he's still enjoying his football later in the season he will sign another contract if it's offered.
