    How much

do you think is a fair enough amount of cash for Rafa after first season in the prem?
Last summer we had all the promises of "every penny" etc and he was given very little.
There's a report by Cashley's loyalest media outlet that Rafa will ONLY get 80m this summer.

I know that the report will be buIIshlt, how would they know the budget and it wouldn't be made public knowledge,

yet i don't think 80m would be too shabby especially if he can keep the funds for outgoing players too, maybe up over 50m for Mitro, Mbemba, Armstrong, Colback, Saivet, Gamez, Haidara, Aarons, Elliott, Gayle, Joselu, Lazaar, Sels

130m, have a good clearout of loan returnees and the "make up the numbers" lot and bring in some quality to kick on with. New striker is a must

A fair amount of cash will only be known by what quality we keep to add to.

Getting 50 million or 100 million won't be much good if we lose our top players, but would be more than enough if we only lose players we expect to lose.

Players we can build on are:
    Dubravka....? (buy for 4 million)
    Darlow.
    Lascelles.
    Lejeune.
    Dummett.
    Yedlin.
    Shelvey
    Diame
    Ritchie.
Kenedy?....(massive question mark but a buy if we can if the price is right.)
    Perez.....?
    Merino?.....

Basically the rest could be sold or some kept as squad cover and better quality added.

That means we really need 2 good strikers, with pace.
    A decent left back.
    A decent right back.

    So Dubravka 4m.
Kenedy?.....15 million plus if Chelsea sell, which I doubt.....unless they start a bidding war.
    2 strikers.....combined 40 million max?
    Right back.....10 million?
    Left back?....Kenedy cover....or 10 million buy, minimum.
Possible centre half depending on who we lose.....15 million?

    A possible 90 million spend.

    Recouped fees possible.

    Mitrovic...15 million plus?
    Gayle... 10 million?
    Joselu...1/2/3/4/5 million?
    Mbemba... 8 million?
    Hiadara....1/2/3/4/5 million?
    Manquillo....5 million?

Potentially we can recoup around 40 million leaving a net spend of 50 million.

Juggle that about any way people want to. change 1 striker to number 10 or add in a creative midfielder or whatever.
I'd expect Ashley to at least release the funds for something like I've said...and it wouldn't surprise me if it was more.

However....and I'd like to just add this in.
I'd expect Rafa (assuming he stays) to build on this team in a positive way with what I've said and use the buys to push us forward in positive footballing terms and not a backwards step of setting up over cautious.

Best post I've seen you put up in ages. I'd only question the second last paragraph about the expectation of what Ashley will release.

What Rafa can do and can't do will, as in every single window depend on Ashley's twist in words about how much the bottom line will be and more importantly where it comes from and how easily available it is to Rafa at the right time.

Should he spend all his budget in one fell swoop or keep some back for the January window???
In case an injury occurs to a main player.

January is a month of loan contingencies if any are required.
I even back any club not going in for panic buys, because, unless players have been identified well in advance for a set fee, then all January is, is a lottery....bidding war.....offload of troublesome players....offload of dross....all mixed together into a potential lucky bag......or more apt.....unlucky bag.

My personal opinion on transfers is, one transfer window in the summer from seasons end to new season start and from there you get on with it and use whatever is available, even if it's youngsters.

    Aye, decent post that one.

The only name i'd question would be Gayle, unless we get 2 strikers in before i can't see him being allowed to leave.

He's been poor for us this season but at least his running around has allowed others to score.

Does anyone have the figure at hand for premier league TV money, TV appearance money (18 live games?) and 10th place finish for this season then basic Sky, BT & overseas rights money for next season? Thanks
