It looks to me like the EU is under attack from Russia and America as they don’t want a European State as another global power. The Russians seem to have deliberately put pressure on the EU by creating homelessness in the Middle East driving millions here to stir up nationalism in many countries.
They both may have helped the Brexit campaign and Trump has been undermining organisations that promote European stability even telling Macron to leave the EU for a good deal with the US.
It’s looking like Mrs Merkel is in difficulty as immigration policies there don’t satisfy her coalition partners. The EU agreement at the weekend was an agreement for not much to happen and her partners have seen that.
Could Merkel go before Theresa - it’s looking possible. If only the EU had taken the threat of Brexit seriously things could have been rather different. The EU without Merkel won’t be the same.
Meanwhile the World Cup has opened up Russia exposing its people to foreigners for the first time in their lives and foreigners to lots of Russia. Will it shut the doors again at the end or realise there’s money and more to be made from not doing so.
Trumps advisers have been meeting Brexiteers without Whitehall knowing.
I wonder what their plans are next?
