    John Stones

Played really well stones let’s hope he keeps his head because they were rattling him a bit yesterday and he got a bit heated by it, we need 11 men on the pitch to fulfil this dream of bringing back the World Cup don’t do a Beckham or Rooney please John

Hopefully we won't come across a team such as Colombia who deploy similar tactics for the remainder of the tournament .

Thought the lads did well to keep their cool and that's only the bits that were picked up on , I'm sure there would be other sneaky digs , spits and who knows what else going on off camera .

Have to say last night was the most impressed I have been with Stones when I have seen him play. For me he was the stand out of the back 3, although Maguire got the plaudits for his forward forays.

Those little threaded balls on the edge of his own penalty area have me shytting myself , fair play to the lad for having the confidence to do it but I can't help think he's going to get caught out before too long .

I'd like to see Stones come out with the ball more myself as I think he's possibly better than Maguire at this , perhaps interchange with Maguire and so not be so predictable and open to getting read perhaps .

He is a better player than he looks reyt nar , tactics ? In my opinion Stones would make a top Midfielder , composure , distribution , i don't like the role he his playing for club or Country right now , he looks at times uncomfortable with it himself ? Top Lad Though , and I'm sure we are all proud of him ? I certainly am ,
Just a question for all ? Who has been the outright best player so far for England in this tournament ?
My personal choice would be Keiron Trippier ,

He has played well trippier as you say romared I think we have been better as a unit this time and what makes me well happy he is a Englishman man with more passion than me (not lol) in charge of our team ( which in my opinion should be anyway) but that goal they scored although a descent goal we did cover the back post but it hit the deck and flew over the top of the defenders and I like all of you felt like s hit but for once we won a penalty shootout but deserved it anyway,I had to laugh at the Colombian coach saying we were wasting time and diving the k nob head, but I like Henderson and Kane but sterland can come in the garrison with me and our lass on Saturday if he wants lol COYE

I’ve said this for three years Roma.
One of my gaffers at my old place ( a massive Everton fan) said when he signed for Everton that he was a “Bobby Moore type player”
“Class and Commanding” were his words, and would eventually captain England and be a World cup winner ....

He’s going to be right..... maybe not at the same time eh.....?

But I think, like you he’d be better a bit further forward

Smallest player on the field, covering a post at a set piece.......
Southgates only mistake so far for me..... with the “Set pieces” being Killer at this World Cup, I’d have a big lad covering the opposite end that the keeper is strong at... not a small one....

    K
    And as an aside.......
For the Reds this season, I also place a man at the far end of the area at set piece crosses and Corners.........How many times does it pass through the area to no one.....

Whilst I agree with Animals comment about passing on edge of box, what impressed me about Stones was what he did off the ball, he was the one always available showing for the ball when we had the ball, his positioning when they had the ball was spot on too. I also liked the fact he stood up and was prepared in a controlled manner to have a go back at their intimidating antics.
As for corners gotta love the ‘Love train’ as Hoddle. nickname it.
