England v India (1st Test, Edgbaston)

I know this has been tagged onto another thread but feel it deserves one in its own right.

Jennings unluckily just got out, England 100 for 2 after 35 overs.

Root now just got 50 and the score has gone on to 127-3. We need to be batting at the end of the day to even have a chance in this match, particularly as we won the toss and elected to bat. Occupy the crease and keep the runs coming at around 3+ per over because if we drop below that we are handing the initiative to the Indians ---at the moment we are just under 3 so we need to pick it up, although the ball has swung for most of the day.
I think that this could well be a very interesting series.

He would!! We were old mates when I played for Church and he played for Accrington through from Under 15 level. We also played football together in a team managed by his dad back in the 1960s before he went off to play for Lancashire in 1965 and I joined the RAF the following year.
Even now, we both think along the same lines as far as cricket is concerned but he has the experience at top level which I do not!

Oh dear! Joe Root is needlessly run out on 80 when batting really well. Great piece of fielding but silly second run.
I just hope that this does not open the flood gates ---we need to be batting at the end of the day.

Was looking forward to Jos coming in, but gone for 0.

230 for 6 with Curran 1 and Stokes 8 trying to hold the fort.

Bairstow seems to have done well with 80 though haven’t seen anything of the game yet.
    242-6 now. Stokes on 20 Curran 1
New ball due in 3 overs.
