    Brunt on Website Comments

On Barry - "Gaz is a top player and he’s a top professional as well,” he said. “From day one since he’s joined the club he’s just got on with it" Does this include nicking a car at 6am in the morning and driving back to the hotel pissed?

“There’s no airs and graces about him" Your right there Brunty as he tried to get a Big Mac in Barcelona in his pissed state and robbed a local of his taxi which the guy probably earns in a year, what you lot earn in a week!

You are a top professional too Brunty but sadly not a great footballer in CM, and your best days are sadly over

Bit harsh, Brunt is the club captain. We need a unified team and side that will stick together. He's probably been asked the question by a journo.

Do you think he should have gone into detail about he got p1ssed up in Spain. How does that help us?

Shame you think that about Brunt, but we all have our opinions. He's been at the club for 10 years and we've spent 8 of those in the Prem - and you could argue that has been our most succesful period in the last 35+ years...

In my opinion he's been a great servant to the club, he's a great influence in the dressing room and he's contributed to our success. He's not the player now that he was 5 years ago but he still has a lot to offer and we'll miss him when he retires. He should go down as a club legend in my eyes.

If players go on websites to answer questions then they are leaving themselves open to comments like the ones made. Fact is, everything the fan/journalist has said is correct.
How do you know that he is a great influence in the dressing room? On the pitch he stands there shaking his head and kicking at the turf when things go wrong, hardly a great influence out there.

This is my perception from people who I know work at the club. And I don't think I've ever seen him unjustifiably have a go at any player in the last decade. I see him have a go at the ref every week, or kick the turf when he makes a mistake. This just emphasises his passion and commitment in my book.

Don't get me wrong - I think Brunty has been fantastic for us and still can do a job, if played in the right position. Fact is, he's no CM player, has no pace, and that sweet left foot is rarely seen.

On 30 grand a week plus, any club/organisation does need to be ruthless - good servant or not!
