We’re missing this one, First away this season. (two homes already missed due to holidays). Not happy, but a weekend in Whitby with the dog on beach and a plethora of pubs allowing dogs in is an opportunity to miss..... London.....
    Nah..... Maybe in May......

Last time I went to the valley was for the first game of the season in 1999 .

It's an interesting story , I'd no plans to attend the game till I came home from work at 3pm on the friday afternoon .

As I walked through the door I was met with a frosty and hostile reception from the girl I was living with at the time over something so irrelevant I can't even remember what it was , maybe I left the toilet seat down ? , who knows .

I wore about 30 minutes of this nonsense , yap yap yap , following me all over the house , I didn't respond and as a result it wound her up even more .

I showered got changed and jumped in the car , drove to Oakwell and purchased a ticket for Charlton and set off for South London , the time would probably be around 4.30pm on the friday afternoon .

I decided to go down the A1 , drove for a few hours and spotted some signs for Huntingdon , booked myself in to a B&B and went out for a few beers .

Got up early the next morning , had a full english and drove to Charlton , I parked the car up a few hundred yards from The Valley at 10am .

Got on a train at Charlton station just down the road and headed in to central London for a few hours and had some lunch before heading back at around 2pm .

Not a phone call or kiss my @ss to my then partner back home , I didn't have a mobile at that time anyway .

We lost the game 3-1 and I drove back home and arrived back at this fractured love nest about 9.30pm fully expecting another bout of earache .

Nope , desperately worried she was , she'd even rung the police apparently when I didn't return home on the friday night early saturday morning .

Haven't you anything to say at all she said , defending was shyte I think I replied .

We didn't last much in to that season and I was free to watch most games that great season as a single man .

It's difficult to imagine that happening with my lovely partner of 6 years in a few weeks time as the team head for South London .

In fact , the sound of wedding bells are in the air next year , you wil all be suitably kept updated of course .
