    30 minute halves.

A new proposal, two 30 minute halves, the clock stops every time the ball goes dead. Cracking good idea, kills time-wasting stone dead. Our game at Cardiff reached a new low apparently, Sky said the ball was in play for just 42 minutes and showed clips of Morrison interminably wiping the ball and shoving it up his shirt to dry it.

I thought it was typical of the dreadful state of refereeing that, despite Morrison taking up to 30 seconds to take throw-ins, the only player Atkinson gave a hurry up to at throw-ins was Lowton.

I put up something similar about killing the clock when the ball went dead years ago Sinkov, and got laughed at.

"I thought it was typical of the dreadful state of refereeing that, despite Morrison taking up to 30 seconds to take throw-ins, the only player Atkinson gave a hurry up to at throw-ins was Lowton".

    Spot on.

I always wondered why they don't have timekeepers like they do in rugby league.. It would stop all the time wasting and it would be much fairer as everybody would be able to see just how much time was left on the clock instead of the refs playing stupid fergie time ..

Does anyone remember the good old days when goalies were allowed to pick the ball up from a back pass?

I can't remember the exact rules but I remember goalies bouncing the ball every couple of seconds to keep within the rules, but hanging onto it for ages. Then a short throw out to a defender who passed it back to him to do it all again.

It used to be very frustrating if we were losing but great if we were winning.

I think the fourth official has it within his power to add time on for blatant time wasting - but rarely does.

I have also noticed that inevitably we get one minute added at the end of the first half and usually 4/6 minutes in the second half. Even allowing for substitutions it doesn't add up. unless time IS added on for time wasting?

I think time is very rarely added on for timewasting. The refs like to point at their watches and pretend they're adding it on, but I'm certain that in most cases they don't.

The anti-Burnley media are now on our case because one individual player on our opponents team took eight full minutes out of the game to mess about drying his balls.

Let's get real and blame Warnock instead?

Blame the referee BT, not Colin, the referee is in charge out on the pitch, what he says goes, and Atkinson had no problem with the amount of time Morrison was taking over the throw-ins.

Actually I think Cardiff shot themselves in the foot taking all that time out of the game. If you offered any manager the chance to play an away game and only have the ball in play for 42 minutes, I'm sure he'd snatch your hand off. I'll bet Dyche has no complaints about it.

Be fair Alf, a football match is never 90 minutes actual playing time, never has been in it's history, 60 minutes is fair enough, and more than you get in any match now.
