Lack of goals is cause of late lapses

The Millers are at their most vulnerable in the last 10 minutes, losing 13 points from goals conceeded after the 80th minute so far this season.. Something that Warney blames on the lack of goals at the other end. - External Link

Could have easily lost another two points at Millwall and Reading if our opponents had not missed late sitters

Our Myrtle ia always taking the pish out of me saying I should just watch the last 5 minutes as that's when the goals are scored and she comes from the Alan Stubbs school of football. Saying that though we also have gained some points at the fag end of games.

    Main reason is fatigue.

A small squad carrying niggly injuries, a full blown hard running style of play means the players are just knackered.

Last season we were by far the fittest team in league 1, this season we are clearly amongst the least fit in the championship. This combined with poor game management is the reason we have waved goodbye to more points than anyone else in the last 10 minutes.

Yes indeed. Better players and better tactics and the ball does the work.

Watch Taylor in the next game, head down running with the ball not quite under control. Like a Jack Russel dog chasing a ball in the park.

Many of our opponents don't run anywhere near as much as us because they let the ball do the work.
Classic technique to win a match.....let them tire themselves out and then hit them when they're fatigued

I don't think the stats back that up Flour. At a recent SKY Norwich game they produced a graphic about average distance ran per player per game. Norwich were top and we were not in the top 6.

The longer a game goes on, the more chance of the better team scoring. In case of point, we dominated the Wednesday match, but they are actually a better team than us, as shown by league position. They needed only three chances to score two goals.

Also, that last 10 mins, when the better players really turn up the urgency when they need a result, often just is too much for players of lesser quality. Just quality counting in the shake down.
