    Team and Formation

Because NA seems stuck on playing the same team with the same tactics and formation. I wondered what everyone else’s team and formation would be for Tuesday nights game?
I’d go with 4-1-3-2. Look to stop leaking goals and snatch 1 on the break

    Schofield GK
    Tootle RB
    Barclay CB
    Stubbs CB
    Milsom LB
    Rose DM
    O’Brien CM
    OSbourne CM
    Doyle CM
    Etete ST
    Campbell ST

Bring in the youth, can’t do much worse

I think most fans have accepted relegation as a done thing so why not

Osbourne is a winger, Etete is on trial at Spurs, Campbell has just ended a long run without scoring and the two kids in the heart of our defence have shown that you can do worse, some of the defending recently has been diabolical... So I'd say no thanks to all.

    Schofield

    Tootle
    Duffy
    Stubbs
    Milsom

    Doyle
    O'Brien

    Enzio
    Hemmings
    CMS

Playing the kids at the back hasn't worked, as much as people like to moan about Duffy I think we miss him, he was fine last season with a competent goalkeeper behind him even if he does win freekicks, it worked and Barclay hasn't done enough to convince me he's anything special to be honest, lets not forget it was Duffy's form under Nolan that improved massively and kept us up the first time around.

Spot on with that team, time for Duff man.

I agree that Barclay has been a disappointment, but I’d much prefer Bird to Duffy. Doyle has been a huge disappointment in the last four games, too - I’d play Kellett over him (just because I’m clinging to the belief that there’s a decent footballer in there).

We have had zero goal threat in the last three games, but can’t see a clear solution to that problem. If we go 4-3-3 (ideally we’d go 4-4-3 and the ref wouldn’t notice), I’d play Osborne as one of the front three just due to his goals for the under-23s. CMS and Enzio have both been poor in the last few games, but who hasn’t? We haven’t been able to harness the pace of either of them or Gomis, and I’ve long since given up on Hemmings, so let’s just pick two names out of the hat.

This is pretty close to spot-on in my view. I cannot believe Ardley is chaining himself to starting all 8 of the January signings, at least half of whom I’m sceptical are better than what we had before - and it’s lunacy to expect two untested loanees (and a loanee keeper) to be the answer long-term. In any case, Barclay has been poor. Get Stubbs alongside Duffy and at least then we’ve got an organiser/voice back there.

Only change I’d make to the above is to take out Doyle, who as much as anything else is clearly struggling with the demands of playing 90 mins at the age of 37 in a two man midfield, and bring in Vaughan, who I thought was doing well before being taken out to make way for the new arrivals, to anchor the midfield - with the energy of Rose and JOB ahead of him.

Edit - I also wouldn’t have Gomis anywhere near the team. I’d even sooner use Campbell or Osborne, our own young players, from the bench. He’s clearly nowhere near ready and the decision to get rid of a proven scorer at this level, Dennis, in order to re-establish our ‘special relationship’ is looking worse by the game.

I too agree with this with one or two comments.
Schofield. This experimental signing hasn't worked for me. I know we all clamoured for a replacement GK, but an untried untested puncher rather than catcher, and another who is reluctant to come off the line, we didn't need.
Duffy. I've been a severe critic over time mainly because of his falling over routine, and the fact he b*llocks the young players at the side of him thus shafting their confidence. However, with 10 "cup finals" to go he can b*llock who he likes now. Were desperate.
Barclay. Tentative is the best word I can think of currently to describe him. No improvement really on the other options we have/had available. Bird for example was maturing well, only to be replaced by...
Stubbs. Now this lad can play.
Gomis. Well lets be honest, this is another experinent of a young player from elsewhere that simply hasn't worked. How we can't get Osbourne in the team in front of this signing is beyond me.
Finally, Etete. His 15 minutes at Barnsley where he didn't touch the ball or influence the game in any way when he came on, spoke volumes. The lad isn't ready.

Macc v Exeter postponed, waterlogged pitch. If we win, we can go above them.......lol.

However, I think I've identified the problem in that scenario:
