    The 94/95 Season

Just watched it on Kendraytykes YouTube channel. Excellent viewing. Some good memories and a very good side playing good football back then. Winstanleys kids breaking into the 1st team, Redders scoring ump**** worldies, Wilson player manager. The nucleus of the promotion winning side. Well worth a watch. Cheered me up ennyrooard cos it's bin flat over last few days

My first season that. First of a five year spell that was my most enjoyable. It was good thinking we'd win every home game.

Yeah it was a fortress Oakwell back then 15 home wins arta 23 that season and only 2 defeats. We could turn any team ova. Amazing to think with average crowds of 5k and only East Stand oppun for our fans.

Yes we played well for most of that season but cough cough !!

Dropped some points in the run in and just failed to make the play offs .

    Entertaining though .

A remember the pre season friendly at Bellevue that year. We were absolutely shocking and lost to a very poor Donny side wi art evvin a shot that day Only a friendly I know but the club seemed in disarray. Aif of oakwell was closed off due to the Taylor report being implemented, wid sold barely any season tickets and wid not signed a single player. Untried Danny Wilson was appointed manager. Wilson wasn't exactly a fans favourite at the time either being booed loudly by some on the announcement by the PA system of his name on the team sheet. The club as we know went from strength to strength and there was 'only one Danny Wilson'

It was near enough my first proper season wi mi dad. Times I will cherish for the rest of my life. Not only good football but great times wi mi dad before I left the nest. I can remember at Shelley high school playing football in year 9 at lunchtime wi mi tarn top on and mi H Town mates thinking I wa mad. Each year they eat a bit more humble pie until the dream was real a couple years later.
That’s it now, I’m going to have a look!
