Says Neil Lennon -"It was a horrendous coming together and I don't think there was any deliberation over it. It was a definite second yellow," he told BBC Scotland.

    Eh?

Can't see all that much wrong with what Lennon said actually. He meant that although it was not a deliberate attempt to injure, it was dangerous play and therefore merited a yellow.

    Not deliberate, so accidental?

And a clash of heads so hard to see how it could be dangerous play.

The opposite of "deliberate" in football may be accidental but more often it is "unintentional". In the case under discussion the referee felt that although Ball did not intentionally injure an opponent, he did so because he was reckless. Therefore a yellow card was appropriate and Lennon, however much it my irk you, was correct.

Doesn’t matter either way to us, he’s off the books at the close of this season.

So it was reckless of Ball to compete for the header by sticking his own head in the way.

That’s not reckless that’s plain stupid if (and it’s a big if) that there was any form of intent there.

I’m also puzzled as to why you think a comment by Lennon would irk me? Neither pro nor anti when it comes to his comments
