I can't believe i'm writing this, i know it's extremely naive but i never thought that we would be this bad, to lose our status as the oldest Football League club. We've narrowly avoided it a few times, so i should have expected it i guess. That being said i go back to the first full season under Ray Trew, we had a solid squad in place for League 1, we just needed the right gaffer and 3 or 4 solid additions. Instead we lost Cotterill and didn't replace him adequately. Even Keith Curle was sacked to early, and we've been in decline ever since. Then we go to Hardy's reign, appointing Nolan looked like a stroke of genius for the first year, but after that cracks started to appear. Last January when we lost Yates we needed 1 or 2 key additions, we didn't get them and our form was appaling afterwards. Nolan started to look like every bit of his former gaffer, a firefighter manager that wasn't going to get us to League 1. Hardy said after he sacked Nolan the form wasn't good enough from January, so why didn't he get rid in the summer? Hardy knew the budget was going to be massive, we had just got to the play offs, we could have attracted a top proven lower league manager. Instead he allowed Nolan to put a squad together, that looked so unbalanced, it's like they both thought it was a real life Football Manager situation. Those decisions have cost us big time. I think we can bounce back but it won't be instantly, this is going to be a grind, to regain our EFL status. Us fans will still be here, i hope in a couple of years we will look back at this thread, laughing as we are flourishing as a club. COYP
