I think the tournament would be so much better if they went back to the knockout format from the off.

They could keep this lark of having 97 teams in there from some countries and just the one from others but do away with the need for "smaller" clubs having to play qualifiers in June.

It has been great but I still think the Champions league should be the Champions not top 4. How can teams in 2nd 3rd and 4th place be classed as champions? Liverpool and Spurs wouldn't have played never mind making the final.

There are also rumours of a 3rd UEFA club tournament resurfacing the very near future so that those in the sub-top (Premier League places 7 to 10 most seasons) catch up with the top 6 a little to give some illusion of competition.

I agree with you and GP from a traditionalist point of view, but the battle for a top four place has kept the season alive in the same way as the play offs have in the other ‘divisions’.
Those younger than we three ‘oldies’ will we wondering what the fuss is about anyway.

Yes, MadAmster, great entertainment, scintillating football throughout and end-to-end stuff but for me it was ruined by wildly partisan commentators. A little bias is acceptable but not to that extent.

Bloody dour Yorkies..... can't get enthused by owt. Partisan commentators exist on all other country's networks, it's just us that have a sense of fair play to give Johnny Foreigner a go, even if that slips occasionally

Arsenal join in in a decent game too... can Eintracht Frankfort make the day complete?
