Evans OUT ...
Dont shoot the messenger...
I was in the pub last night chatting with a Miller who was adamant that if Steve Evans gets us promoted then his reward should be a pat on the back, a fat cheque and his P45!
He says that if Tony Stewart is ambitious enough to even think of the Premier League then with Championship status he should be ruthless with SE and get in a proven Championship Manager with the higher level promotion credentials.
RedRouge disagrees 100%. If SE gets us promotion then his CV will have 4 promotions on the bounce (I believe) and therefore a season in the Championship would be just reward for his efforts. Success breeds success and SE will be as hungry as ever (pardon the pun) for more.

Is this the start of the wind up to get Ronnie Moore back in - with Championship experience. If so its a tad lame.

I think your drinking buddy had been on the drink.
We didnt have a proven League One manager this season, Promotion or not come Sunday we have had a blinder regardless.
"Experienced managers" are out of work for one reason - they failed.

The simple question is this, how do you know that SE won't be a success in the Championship too?
Not proven, true, but not failed either, and as far as I'm concerned would do well.

I don't think for a second that this would happen. And it shouldn't.
But the way modern football is, it's less ridiculous than it would have sounded even five years ago. The stakes are so high now. You look at someone like Atkins at Southampton, who did brilliantly to get them up, got them off to an ok start in the top division and then got binned.
I don't think it will be us, but you can see a club doing this. It's not so different from Evans deciding that Mullins and Noble weren't good enough for League One, despite both having done so well in the division below. You see a lot of clubs who clearly have very little faith in their manager and who are just waiting for a bad run of form to fire him; it's not such a leap for them to bite the bullet before they hit that bad run.
Us in the Championship would be a massive challenge and our best hope (if we get there) is that the manager who assembled the squad can get the best out of it more often than not. I read yesterday that Bournemou

I think you need to change who you 'chat in the pub with'
never heard such drivel, SE deserves a crack at it just as most of the players do

I agree Exeter, Win on Sunday and the TS/SE plan continues, you never know who we could get if we could offer championship football, maybe some fringe prem players wanting first team football and to be adored, look at Tavs and how he fits into the Millers Family,
There has never been a loan player which i have so wanted at this club permenantly than TAVS he is such a good player and can play all over the pitch.

Quality!!!! If we go up we will stick with Evans and will continue with the same strategy we have done the last couple of seasons, the only issue would be if someone came in for Evans as he has ultimately been successfull two seasons on the trott.

Us in the Championship would be a massive challenge and our best hope (if we get there) is that the manager who assembled the squad can get the best out of it more often than not. I read yesterday that Bournemouth made a loss of A?13.5m last season, partly because their revenue was limited by having the smallest ground in the league: capacity 11,700. Shows what a huge effort awaits whoever wins on Sunday.[/quote]
totally sound point re expectations/reality.
The vision of TS and his board must be to become a sustainable and therefore 'in with a chance' of, (one great season in six) reaching the holy grail Via a long stretch in the Championship.
If you can sustain it in the championship that long you have a small but realistic chance of long term success with the rise in gates that the likes of Wigan get but not as much as say a Reading get/got.
However, what is the reality of a club our size? I would say that it will have to be a very special corporate/commercial response

i have to say millers fans, that at times steve evans is a little annoyin with his whingeing,BUT if the millers win on sunday(fingers crossed ya do)its my honest opinion that mr evans should get a better contract not the heave ho,he also should be a rovrum legend if he takes you up 2 seasons on the bounce, just my thoughts as a interested BLADE.UTB

Too much time in your hands.
There was a young guy on here who was practically stalking Evans and actually caught up with him in the car park and asked him to manage Rotherham.
Actually Crash, I merely went to a random page of yesteryear and this is what I found. Funny though how many were against him. Even though he delivered what he was brought in to do.
I’ll see if I can’t dig something else up from yesteryear that might jog a few memories.
Few names from the past there, where they all gone ?
Would transfer a few of those old posters for some of current morons.
Evans did what he had to do. Fulfilled what he was tasked to do and those times were great. The man has gone now so we have to move on. 6 points from Gillingham next season with loads of antics from the fat one.
