    Maguire to Man Utd

Looks like this is now happening.

    £85 million.

I think he's a good player and i think he'll do well there but ****ing hell that is over-paying.

Yet at the same time it is probably right.

****ing hell the market is mad - when will the bubble burst?

Not sure about that: good defender stats, can score. Mental attributes appear good, physically above norm. He is not a visionary or flair player, above the overall skill set re good but £80m!

Reckon they paid market rate but didn't get a bargain.

FFS Tyrone Mings was signed for about 27 million. Thats where we are at now.

    Mental.

VVD proved his worth for about the same fee.

Dont put Maguire in this bracket though.

If clubs are willing to throw this type of money about and it doesn't affect their long term status, then fine...but this money game has went far far beyond the realms of normality, sensibility and viability for many, I think.

Maguire is a decent CB, no doubt about it and he'll most likely get a minimum of £250,000 a week.
How Man Utd are sustaining that doesn't seem to matter, just like it doesn't matter with Man City and the odd....I say, the odd other elite club.

All this does it create a WANT or else mentality.
Decent players wanting matching wages of the best players who then want higher wages to compensate for it....and so on.

Effing stupid to the core but this is what football's turned into and any fan of any club just needs to hope that their club are capable of carrying it off.
The average fan has lost all sense of what money actually is.

For once i am in agreement with ghost on this one. The sooner the money bubble implodes the better for football. I blame sky and agents greed for what is becoming an untenable situation.
How an average player can command upwards of £200k per WEEK is beyond the average fan. But what a club generates in gate receipts is small in relation to other income so therefore we are becoming irrelevant.
