    Groundhog Day

Listening to the matches on the radio, as I am reluctantly forced to do because of injury, every commentary over the last year reminds me of Groundhog Day...it's the same story virtually every week and nothing changes much on the playing side apart from the managers. Whilst this scenario continues there is no guarantee whatsoever anything will change in the future, no matter how much time is allowed for improvement and improvement will only come about by good leadership and commitment to the cause. The supporters and the owners have done their "bit" and it's high time the manager and the team got their act together. All they are being asked to do is to play to their best abilities whilst the manger is being asked to "manage" and lead. At the end of the day, they are not being asked to explain the theory of relativity and they are very lucky to be doing a job a lot of us would love to do.
At the same time, the club directors should listen to the match comments made by Mark Draper as week in week out he makes very valid points; which everyone at Meadow Lane is currently ignoring.

As someone who's been fortunate to attend all the League games so far, I can assure you there no lack of "commitment to the cause". Lack of composure certainly, sometimes a lack of skill.

Sadly you'll have to wait until 2nd February 2020 for the next Groundhog Day to get Punxsutawney Phil's prediction (for Notts).

P.S. Hope you're up and about soon to pay a visit to the Lane and see for yourself.

Groundhog day is a wonderful film, that doesn't only apply to football. I was about 27 when I suddenly thought "is this all there is". That was over 30 years ago, and the answer is yes.

Cambridge have been up to the brink of the premiership and down to non league. And had 6 years in the old div2 at another time. Now we have a new owner new ground in the offing etc..... and are on our way back up...groundhog day. In the vast expanse of eternity, football is a pleasant time consumer, nothing more, and as the bloke in the film eventually discovered there is a way to move on.

To something better. Whether football will be a part of it, who knows, but its got to be a better version.

To be fair, Ardley and Turner admitted that Notts weren't 'at the races' on Saturday. It was a bit of an off day. Ebbsfleet scored 1 scrappy goal and there was OB's own goal. At least we scored 2 very good goals from open play and could have had a third.

I think we'll steam roller Chorley today. It's been coming.
