Deschamps.
Yes, Zidane counts. How many CLs?
Indeed he had talent and money to work with but he still had to motivate and get a tune out of them.
Cruyff, Pep.

So, on the back of the Beardsley thread....
which players who were really good players have made it as a good manager or coach? I'm not talking about just any ex-pro (otherwise the list would be too huge) but players who were exceptional. I wonder if the very best players do things so instinctively they can't really pass their skills on? I think there are plenty of examples of talented players who haven't been able to make the step up.
So who out of the best managers was a really good player, too? Does Zidane count? I mean, he was an exceptional players-does he count as a really good manager too or has he got his jobs because of who he is and has been able to work with talented players?
Diego Simeone ifits the bill, I think. What was Klopp's career as a footballer like?
Any more?

Keegan.
Our own Joe Harvey.
George Graham (sometimes)
I think the one that stands out for me is Franz Beckenbauer.
A special mention for Johan Cruyff.
Alan Pardew.
Answer on behalf of Ashley and Penfold.None other than Steve Bruce.
TO be fair to the bloke, he is good at what he does - manage teams up in the chimpo. Not his fault he's been put into a job he's not best suited to.
in regards to original point:
Cappello was a decent player and manager.
I want to say Conte as well won stuff as player and manager?
Sir Bobby? He won stuff as a manager and i know he played for numerous different clubs, was he a decent player?
