There seems to be some debate whether Doyle will replace Rose or Booty....
In my opinion, it will actually be Osbourne who misses out. Ardley will move Booty to the wing and put Doyle in the middle. When asked in an interview he will say that Osborne is young and needs to have his minutes managed.
If he decides to start with the same midfield, then Osbourne will be subbed on 60mins for Doyle and he will switch with Booty.
Not a great example to anyone if a young player loses his place in the side to a bloke coming back after a 4 game suspension.
Possibly with the first prediction, but I’d be very surprised if Doyle is subbed. Win, lose or draw - he’s played 90 minutes of every single match he’s been available for since he signed in January, and no amount of results-based factual evidence for how much weaker our midfield is with him in it is likely to change that.
Weird, because if you’re ‘managing minutes’ for anyone you’d think it’d be a 38 y/o midfielder...
Whilst I agree with the sentiment, I think that we have been weaker in midfield without Doyle while he has been suspended. This was evident in the win over AFC Fylde, albeit the key word is "win" so there could be more than a valid counter argument.
Also when Doyle play's that's when I think we see the best of Rose.
Therefore based on the above I'm fully expecting Doyle to take his place in the starting line up tonight, but we shall wait and see.
Not sure I agree, Rose has looked half the player he was last season for us in most of the games I've seen this season but he was excellent against Dover.
As I've said elsewhere I think Booty is more likely to be dropped for Doyle than anyone because he just looks knackered and lazy constantly, he's very good on the ball though and made some great passes to put players in behind on Saturday which we'll miss badly if he's not on the pitch. Giving him a Ben Davies role and dropping Osbourne as suggested above would probably work out the best, Osbourne had a pretty awful first half and wasn't involved much in the second half after his two efforts at goal early on until he was subbed, he's got potential but there's a reason Ardley is bringing him in slowly.
Just to add...
My prediction(s) are not what I would like to happen or agree with.... they are simply predictions of what I think will happen.
We have missed Doyle since JOB's been injured but I don't like them both in midfield.
I think Osborne will miss out tonight.
If our results had nosedived in Doyle’s absence, then yeah it’d be a no brainer, but it’s been quite the opposite, even in the game he was actually sent off in.
Ardley said he had words with him after the Halifax game, but imo he’s got to show that people who get themselves sent off twice can’t just walk straight back in. We’re quite lucky in that we really don’t have any players who are indispensable.
I hope he's back in the team, it'd take even the staunchest critic to say our midfield has been better without him!
