Yes loads of times to get into pubs near to away grounds. Happened quite a few times a season including at Leicester.
It’s curtains if they ask to see a ticket with away end stamped on it. Most bouncers don’t go that far though

Told the story on here before when I had it denied for me. Early 70's, pre-season Yorkshire Cup game against the Blades at Millmoor. Stood minding our own business on the Tivoli when a marauding gang of Sheff Utd skinheads came looking for someone to batter. Expected the worst until one of them piped up "Nah leave 'em. They are Blades". It turned out to be 'the cock' of our old junior school who recognised us and saved us from a beating. Nice of him to do that considering even at school he had some pretty violent tendencies and sadly he is now serving life in Rampton for the violent murder of his wife.
