    It wasn't a red card.

During the Everton v. Spurs game today Son's tackle on Gomez did not warrant a red card. The referee originally gave him a yellow, the correct decision. The only reason that he changed it to a red was because of the seriousness of the injury. That should not be the case. The tackle itself didn't cause the injury it was the fact that his foot stuck in the ground after he landed. You could tell by the reaction of the Everton players that they thought the same as quite a few of them went to console Son after the incident. The seriousness of an injury should not decide what the punishment should be. The red card should be rescinded and everybody should wish Gomez a speedy recovery.

I totally agree and the decision to send him off will set a dangerous precedent now every foul that injures a player causing him to leave the field will have to be an automatic red card, having watched the game today I'm so glad we don't have VAR in the championship I'm not sure weather it's the system causing the problem or the people using it.

VAR needs to be radically overhauled. It is ruining the flow of the game, the game in general and making referees poorer than they already are. If that was possible!
