    World Club Final

So it's Liverpool v Flamengo on Saturday.

Flamengo are State, National, and Continental Champions already and are now going for the world title. The only competition they didn't win in South America this year was the Copa Brasil (like the FA cup). They're a good side with a strong attack - the spotlight is always on Gabriel (on loan from Inter) but Bruno Henrique is a great (and fast) striker and Arascaeta (Urugayan) is a cracking player.

If both sides were fully fit (and rested!) and on top form, I think Liverpool would be favourites but, as things stand, and with VVD doubtful I think Flamengo have a great chance. Henderson and Gomez as centre backs in the semi today looked shaky and slow.

I follow Flamengo as my second team because of the last game these two played in the final in 1981. Flamengo beat a very good Liverpool side 3-0 when a certain Zico was playing. I think it'll be closer this time.

Something tells me this game isn't generating quite the same level of interest in England as in Brazil.

    Aye sorry toptoon.

Despite an English club playing I personally don't care who wins.

Means something to Liverpool though as they've brought a strong team with them rather than save that team for the League cup.

Sorry, man...aye, I think to most of us it''s on a par with the Charity Shield

There’s something wrong with this tournament. It’s seen as the world title in South America and (as Zip nicely described) like the Charity Shield in Europe. I tell people here that it’s not very important in Europe and keep receiving blank stares!
Flamengo finished their domestic season about 3 weeks ago, wrapping up the national and South American title in the same weekend and so, the timing of this tournament could not have been better for them. Quite the opposite for Liverpool.

Anyway it might be something to wake me up after watching our game.

In all honesty if i asked the kids at school who they thought would win in this competition, i bet the vast majority couldn't even tell me which European club was in it bar the Liverpool fans.
