Superb write-up.....thank you.
It feels as if I was actually there, at the game, with you and your Dad.

So, me and my Dad went up there for the 3rd time. This time we were more educated in where to go and where not to go!
Turns out, the best food and booze is definitely at Bradley's, just underneath the main stand. Locally sourced fish and pies, steamed veg, home cooked chips, mash, gravy etc.. lots of real ales on cask.
I would give Fylde fans 10/10 for making away fans feel welcome and for friendliness. You can always rely on Lancashire for that though (apart from Oldham!!). When the 2nd game was called off, the staff came around the bar giving everyone free pies for the journey home, that was a nice touch. The Fylde fans are quite happy to chat to you in the bar or wherever too. Fair play, it wasn't their fault that any of the games were called off. Anyway, on to the game....
We looked good in the first 15 minutes, we passed it around pretty well and got the goal we deserved through Enzio's free kick. However, when Fylde equalised it gave them a massive boost and for the rest of the first half we struggled.
Basically, we were getting over run in midfield on the counter attack. Fylde seemed to squeeze us as we were building passes up the pitch and when they won the ball back, it would always be just in front of their own 18 yard box. From there, they would attack directly through the midfield with 4 or 5 runners and we just couldn't cope. We were lucky to go in at half time 1-1.
At HT I was saying to my Dad that we needed to switch to a 4-4-3......get O'Brien on and take Thomas off. We started the second half with no changes and I must say I was very surprised. However, 10 or 15 mins in to the first half, Ardley changed things. He did exactly what was needed and brought on O'Brien. I've just seen on the match thread that people were questioning this decision, but, if you were at the game, it was quite obvious to see. Bringing on JOB and changing to a 3 in midfield stopped Fylde from countering as quickly and regularly and meant that Enzio and Roberts were pushed forward. This swayed the game in our favour for sure. JOB's corner led to Long's goal and he also hit the bar. Bringing on Wilson and Dennis also helped put an element of doubt within the Fylde team and in the end they were just too knackered to do anything in stoppage time.
I'm not going to do ratings because it was such a strange game, but for me Kelly-Evans was MOM in the first half and JOB was MOM in the 2nd. Yup, it was that strange, there wasn't anybody who clearly stood out for 90 mins but we dug in and ground out a result.
Fair play to Ardley for noticing things and changing (even though I could see it and he should have done it at HT) and fair play to the players for sticking in there on a terrible pitch with Fylde fighting for there lives.
It just proves that things don't go for you when you're at the bottom of the table (like us last season). Fylde definitely deserved to come away with something from the game, but their finishing was appalling. I actually hope they stay up because I quite like the ground, fans and bar there.....although in a weird way, I hope we never have to play them again!!!
P.S. McDodgy made some good saves but needs to work on his kicking. Plus, Enzio should always be in the team. I don't care what people say, he can create something out of nothing and its entertaining to have a player like that around the club. Somebody mentioned Roberts MOM...sorry not for me..
On to Barrow COYP!!!

That's good to hear Elite. In all honesty, I was fearing the worst and thinking you were going to pull me up on my 2 typos...
'there' should be 'their' and 4-4-3 should be 4-3-3. You've either not noticed of given me the benefit of the doubt!!
Can't go back and edit for some reason? Maybe because it's now Wednesday and I wrote the post on Tuesday?
I said after the Aveley game that we should change to a 4-3-3 with Doyle, JOB, Crawford in midfield and Enzio, Wootton, Roberts front 3.
It sacrifices Dennis which contradicts that I think he should play but it brings far more creativity with JOB and Crawford both playing.
