Our centre backs are some of the best in the league

It was good to read on Notts Live that Rawlinson and Turner are in the top group of centre backs in the league on performance stats. They demonstrate what a great job that was done by Ardley and his staff in bringing in so many players in a rapid period of time in August. If we ever do get back to playing they and Lacey will be crucial to our season and going forward Turner seems an obvious new capt if Doyle does call it a day

And by Football Radar. Obviously we don't know to what extent each signing is an Ardley or Football Radar signing, and most are probably a joint effort. A positive thing about the current management team is that I think they are open-minded enough to accept new ideas whereas some old guard managers would probably object to what they might see as interference.

One thing is for sure, the recruitment over the past few months has been better than it has for pretty much the past ten years.

Thought when Turner got injured we might struggle but what a signing Lacey's been. I remember seeing him against Chessie in the FA Trophy and thought he looked ordinary to say the least. How wrong was I.

The thing with Lacey is he's not just a good defender, he can really pass a ball too. I think his return to the side and our recovery in form isn't coincidental. For years we were crying out for just one decent centre-half (Mike Edwards excepted of course) and now we've got several!

Very wrong but almost impossible to judge a player on a single game.

Our defence is now a real strength, we've not been able to say that for a while
