    Albion FA Cup Classics

Classic Albion FA Cup Matches I've witnessed with a comment on each some personal, some many of you will have experienced

1968 Liverpool at Maine Road-down the road it may have been for the scousers but that night there seemed to be 2 Baggies for everyone of them. I was hoarse for days afterwards.

1968 Blues at Villa park-walked back to Charlemont Farm with a load of mates and sang all the way home

1969 Chelsea-first time I had seen masses of skinheads. Bomber Brown had a penalty saved. Dougie Fraser grabbing Boyle by the neck after the goalmouth melle.

1978 Man Utd-thinking we had no chance in extra time when Wayne Hughes came on for Wile with Joe Jordan at his very dirtiest best.

1978 Derby away-I think this is the one I queued overnight at the Hawthorns for a ticket. and the was snow on the ground. Anyone confirm? Mum brought me a cup of Bovril. Stood on a packed half way line at the Baseball Ground and Willie Johnston had a blinder.

There's 10 years worth all wins without mentioning 18th May 1968, no classic but simply the best. I might post a list of heartbreakers but there's enough misery around right now

i remember the Maine Road match well. I got a lit cigarette down the back of my neck, then after the game I got my glasses broke by a pi**ed up Liverpool supporter. On top of that I knocked the next day off school and got found out by my parents. But we had won so I was happy as a pig in sh*t.

What a great night that was even if the weather was grim. My mate and I stood on the side and got talking to a City fan who had come out of interest. Liverpool started the better. The City fan was very apologetic when he said he thought Liverpool were going to win. When they took the lead it seemed that he could be right. But for some reason they were not the same afterwards and when we levelled we were the only winners. School the next day. I took my O levels that year.

I went to Colchester for the first tie that year. We were very fortunate to get a draw that game.

That game at Stamford Bridge the next year was one of the best I have ever been to. After that display I was convinced we would retain the cup. But of course this is the Albion we are taking about

I don't remember us going a goal behind thought they got it back to 1-1 before we went away from them. Makes all the sweeter somehow.

I went to Colchester. Why did he disallow their 'winner'

A stat for me that simply illustrates the FA Cup Cup now and then. Replay at the Hawthorns against a 3rd div team on a cold January night. That happened now what do you reckon 10,000 if we were lucky. Attendance was 38,000+.

Just noticed these matches weren't played until the end of Jan instead of the 1st Saturday. Anyone remember why?

Yes I think I am wrong. Jeff scored early and they then had a lot of pressure before Tony Hateley scored.
