    Peter Thompson passed away

Former groundsman Peter Thompson has passed away. Remember him well. Great character down the lane.

Sad news .... Groundsmen are often the unsung workers of sports clubs who don't get recognised ... often for the sheer hours they put in for others to enjoy. RIP Peter.

He Was A fantastic servant to Notts, and if he said don't go on the pitch, you wouldn't dare go on, that was his domain till matchday

Will always remember that face and in paricular his smashing nose, armed with a fork. He made our pitch the best in the leagu. Always looked forward to the opening day of the season and see our lush striped pitch. Always remember too as a youngster how the white ball looked out of shape when it sat on the centre circle on a night match.

My memory of him goes back to when I used to go down the Lane as a kid to collect autographs after training. One day, Peter Thompson offered some of us a ‘few bob’ to clear all the litter from the main stand. Like idiots we did it but, of course, we never saw any money for all our hard work!
I wasn’t too happy at the time but smile now when I think back to how we were stitched up.
In those days, the young apprentices normally got those jobs but not on this particular day.

    RIP Peter.

    RIP Peter.

Sadly, the loss of a Magpie to this awful virus.

Carlton Town who Tony did fundraising for are not finding it particularly easy, either.

Another great character gone . The nose, and the fork stuck into the pitch at half time . He looked like the devil in wellies, and a rain coat. RIP
