Players from European union will have to go through points based system

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52463698

This could actually benefit the English leagues/players, if some of the so called talent from Europe fails on the newly suggested points based system.

'The FA's latest accounts state that Brexit could have ''a potential negative impact on the number of European players entering the English game which could result in a devaluation of the domestic rights of english competitions''

Powerful words indeed so, are the FA finally going to allow our home grown talent to shine through with this new set of criteria? We shall have to wait and see as it is still a long way off from being implemented.

    This doesn't make any sense.

Foreign players don't prevent homegrown footballers 'shining through'. It won't magically make British footballers better.

It just means the average standard of players that they come up against will be lower. The higher calibre of opponent any footballer can play against the better for their own abilities.

Every player finds their level anyway. Foreign players don't stop that, it just means the levels are higher.

Good morning John. On the basis what the FA are clamping down on, surely we'll not just see any Tom, Dick or Harry fill our leagues?

There may actually be players here now who wouldn't even have passed the newly suggested criteria had it been in place. There will come a time and maybe not too far away where English clubs say enough is enough at paying outlandish fees for overseas players and look to use home grown talent.

I'm sure the FA haven't just dreamt this up if it wasn't going to be a viable programme.

If players come here that aren't good enough they don't get picked. It's that simple. It's not like they hold back British players.

    Look at Miranda.

Its like arguing that having really good players in a team holds back the rest of the players because they don't get as much chance to play.

    Everyone finds their level.

Edit: Also, what is this notion that they'll not let in any Tom, Dick or Harry... have you even thought about what you're saying?

If Rotherham United's talent scouts want to bring in a promising footballer from France - are we to say the government's points system is a better judge of their ability than the professional scouts and managers who want to sign them!? Think through the implications of this madness.

PL academy’s are full of foreign born players who the PL clubs snap up hoping to unearth a gem. I’d rather these teams be full of young British born players, who will then get the best chance with the coaching in these academy’s. Isn’t rocket science that a talented player has more chance of playing in the PL than a league one/league two youngster if they are getting better coaching in a PL academy.

The fa will make sure the points system is easy to pass though, so I wouldn’t worry about having an abundance of young British talent playing in the PL anytime soon.

There you go again being a condescending prick! You just can't leave it alone when it comes to my posts can you?
You are one sad individual that constantly picks and pokes at what others post. You must lead a very boring narcissistic life.

I tried to be openly pleasant in my initial reply to you but this obviously failed so once and for all John Hardy just crawl off somewhere and f.ucking do one! If this gets me banned then so be it but again I will say you are a condescending prick of the highest order!

PL clubs take any youngster on that show any signs of potential then chuck then out once they’ve decided they’re not improving quick enough or whatever they expect of them.

We definitely need to be looking at trying to get British players through the ranks but won’t happen anytime soon for reason (you can decide for yourself)

You make it sound like these academies don't contain any British players. In reality the majority of PL academy players are British.

Is there a list available for this John? Does it list them by club? I would like to have a look at this. Do you have a link?
