Coventry v Spurs 1987 FA Cup final.

What a cracking final this was, I still remember the Cup being the Cup in those days, not what it’s become now.
At what was a miserable time to be an Albion fan I had that slightly guilty feeling of wanting Coventry to do well, as it wasn’t Villa or Wolves I suppose I could wear my ‘Midlands’ hat for a day.

The Keith Houchen record of scoring in each round made it all the more interesting. Also it was painful to see big Cyril in a final without us, especially having gone so close in 78 and 82. What a strange feeling of envy mixed with wanting him to do well I had. Even when they won, which pleased me the feeling of disappointment grew, seeing Cyril celebrate a Cup win without us was hard to watch.

Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to seeing a re run as it was a cracking game and had added emotions.
