    Wage cap for lower leagues

EFL Chairman Rick Parry states that wage caps are essential for the lower leagues, but where does that leave us?? - External Link

Yes there’s a good chance of that.

Also we might see a return of regional leagues, ie a League 1 North and League 1 South

All well and good till a club finds one or two loopholes to bend the rules.

At least from the outside looking in our club is at present being run prudently. ( at least I hope it is )

I thought that we had 1 already, that you can only spend a % of turnover?? It's the EFL what don't apply the rules, eg, Birmingham, Wendy, Derby etc etc.... if they punished them accordingly, it would send out a proper message to the rest.

They scrapped the wage cap about 1960(?), and the run away train started soon after...........

Yes - 1961 abolition of the £20/week maximum wage and Johnny Haynes at Fulham became the first £100/week player. So interestingly this whole problem today started around when most MMadsers were being born...and they say the Millenials are to blame for everything

The thing is with modern football, many Chairmen chase the promised dream of all the money they plough into a club, they will get a return.
Not saying Tony will fail to get a return should he ever feel like selling up but, I think Tony will see this out ala Jack Walker until he's gone.
I for one cannot foresee us ever reaching the Prem, however, I continue to dream of this, bit like Tony.

Richard, Tony's Son, on the other hand, may well walk away from it all in the future as I understand he's not a great love of football but, abides by his Father's current wishes. What I feel we can all agree on, is when the time comes for Tony to stand down, if he does, is a statue is erected outside the stadium to reflect all his hard work and personal and financial input he has given us all in both saving our club and giving us a stadium to be immensely proud of. If it means the fans paying for the statue, I'll be the first to chip in.

Stick a tenner in for me Brin, I'll pay you back

I can see the dream of wanting to get to the top of your sport but for me the Premiership is a tainted goal and they certainly haven't improved their image through this global crisis. Watching/adoring cheating, over paid show ponies wearing the RUFC shirt is not something I think appeals to me. Not that it matters though as I rarely watch/adore our honest, under paid cart horses today anyway
