Barnsley FC can confirm that one person has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus following a round of testing on Friday 5 June.
The single positive test is from an asymptomatic member of backroom staff who had tested negative in all four previous rounds.
The individual will now follow the relevant guidance and undergo a period of isolation whilst remaining in close communication with club personnel, before being re-tested at a later date.
Many have worked tirelessly to ensure that Oakwell remains a safe environment for players and staff alike. Barnsley FC will continue to follow EFL protocol and instruction.
The staff member is safe and upbeat. No further comment will be made.
After Fulham 1st game the season ended then, let's get back where we belong in pub lg with these pub lg thinking owners
Couldn't agree more. I was offered a return to work in a couple of weeks but i refused because I feel the country will be hit by a second wave the way the government and folk in general are acting. I'm not exactly flush with money but health comes first. This whole football thing is purely based on money. Enough time has elapsed now, I feel the football authorities have given the season every chance of a resumption but now should make the right decision and end the season as it currently stands like other countries have.
Whoever the individual is , let's hope they make a complete return to full good health ,
Football is well down the list for many right now , as you say Pass health first , I think you have made a good decision not returning to work,
Presumably the person will now be on the world leading track and trace system and will ev several contacts who ev been near this lad/lass at work. All will need to self isolate for two weeks
